After graduating from the University of North Dakota law school in 1967, Stroup began practicing law. He has always specialized in real estate and related business law and banking issues. He is licensed to practice law in North Dakota and admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.
Stroup has been on the Titles Standards Committee of the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Section of the North Dakota Bar Association for more than 35 years, currently serving as chairman. He has given numerous seminars on real property law, mortgage foreclosures, and bankruptcy, and he is an annual presenter at the Real Property and Trust Seminar.
